Profile on the Reds&#8217; rumoured target"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/talksport.com\/football\/liverpool\" class=\"word-link\" title=\"Liverpool\">Liverpool<\/a> are reportedly stepping up\u00a0their efforts to secure the signing of Nabil Fekir from Lyon as they look to make the most of their <a href=\"http:\/\/talksport.com\/football\/champions-league\" class=\"word-link\" title=\"champions-league\">Champions League<\/a> run.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is understood that the Reds are willing to pay in excess of \u00a360million for the France international and hope to wrap up a deal before the start of the World Cup.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lyon are reluctant to sell the attacking midfielder, who scored 22 goals in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side last season, but <a href=\"https:\/\/talksport.com\/football\/transfer-gossip-tottenham-summer-spree-liverpool-sign-ps60m-french-star-arsenal-eye-roma\" target=\"_blank\">Fekir is reportedly refusing to rule out a move<\/a> away.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Reds have already wrapped up a deal for RB Leipzig&#8217;s Naby Keita, who will join the club in July after a \u00a348million deal was agreed for the Guinea international last summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But the acquisition of Fekir could make\u00a0Liverpool even more devastating going forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It could also see a new and possibily improved version of their\u00a0&#8216;Fab Four&#8217; restored after <a href=\"http:\/\/talksport.com\/philippe-coutinho\" class=\"word-link\" title=\"Philippe Coutinho\">Philippe Coutinho<\/a> broke up the band when he left Merseyside for Barcelona in January.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But what do we know about Fekir?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here, talkSPORT profiles the 24-year-old who could be brought into fill the Coutinho-shaped hole at Liverpool<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Full name: <\/strong>Nabil Fekir<br \/><strong>Date of birth: <\/strong>18 July, 1993<br \/><strong>Birthplace: <\/strong>Lyon<br \/><strong>Position: <\/strong>Attacking midfielder<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"315px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FlD5Y5zV4Us\" width=\"560px\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s his career been like so far?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aged 13, Fekir was actually released from Lyon&#8217;s academy after the club concluded\u00a0he wasn&#8217;t good enough. He then joined nearby club FC Vaulx but returned to Lyon two years later.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fekir broke into the Lyon first team aged 19 and become a regular starter a year later. His breakthrough season came in the 2014\/15 campaign, where he forged\u00a0a good partnership with Alexandre Lacazette.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The attacker then sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury but made a stedy recovery.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fekir was made captain of the Ligue 1 club in August 2017 and then went on to enjoy\u00a0his most successful season with the club.
