Reds boss says he has \u2018no clue\u2019 how Spurs will cope after they had nine first team players play in the semi-finals in Russia<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted he has \u2018no clue\u2019 how Tottenham will cope at the start of the new season given how many of their first-team players were involved in the World Cup semi-finals.<\/p>\n

The Reds boss says he and Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino have a big hurdle to overcome as they prepare for the forthcoming Premier League campaign, and has a warning about the increasing demands of international football.<\/p>\n

Klopp is having to plan for Liverpool\u2019s opening fixtures without a number of key men who are resting following their World Cup exploits, but Pochettino is facing an even bigger problem in north London.<\/p>\n

Liverpool had four players in the last-four in Russia \u2013 Tottenham had nine.<\/p>\n

And Klopp believes international football is putting too much strain on players, saying \u201cwe have to collect their bones\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Premier League kicks off again on August 10 while UEFA\u2019s new Nations League, which replaces the usual rounds of international friendlies, begins on September 6.<\/p>\n

England players only returned back home on Sunday, just weeks before the new season starts.<\/p>\n

Klopp said: \u201cI don\u2019t want to get too football political but if they don\u2019t stop with these games \u2013 they are now making it the Nations Cup to make it more important \u2013 then all these players who played at the World Cup have to go there again.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had four players in the (World Cup) semis, which is OK, we can deal with that.<\/p>\n

\u201cTottenham had nine players in the semis. I have no clue how they will do it. That\u2019s a big challenge. It\u2019s a really tough thing to deal with and in the future we have to change it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey play the World Cup, then the Nations Cup, next summer is the final of the Nations Cup, which is really crazy. Everything is now so important in football and we have to collect their bones afterwards, more or less.\u201d<\/p>\n

Klopp expects to be without Croatia defender Dejan Lovren and England midfielder Jordan Henderson for the opening game of the season against West Ham \u2013 but revealed he had to persuade his club captain to take time off.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cIt was a hard fight to convince him that he needed a holiday. I knew it would happen. On the phone I said \u2018crazy\u2019. Jordan needs a holiday so that means August 5 he will be back. Dejan had a party in Croatia and played a day later, so he will be back on August 6.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat would mean five days training after three weeks\u2019 holiday. I hope we are in a situation where we don\u2019t need to think about using these two.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\tTrent Alexander-Arnold made one appearance for England at the World Cup \u2013 against Belgium in the group stages\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Trent Alexander-Arnold could be involved, though, with the 19-year-old full-back appearing in only one of England\u2019s games.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Trent I have a special agreement,\u201d said Klopp. \u201cHe wanted to be in earlier as well. As he\u2019s very young I said \u2018OK, have two weeks\u2019 holiday and then we\u2019ll speak and see\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you asked Trent he would be good to join us in Evian (for their training camp). But I\u2019m not sure I will do that. I want to have them desperately but the season is really long.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
