Harry Kane will want to play in Tottenham Hotspur<\/a>\u2019s opening game of the new Premier League season, despite his World Cup exploits with England over the summer, believes Harry Redknapp.<\/p>\n

The striker is currently having a break from football after a long season, which saw him play 59 games for club and country \u2013 scoring a sensational 52 goals.<\/p>\n

It has been suggested he and a number of Spurs players who went the distance in Russia will be rested for the beginning of the campaign, which kicks off at Newcastle United on August 11.<\/p>\n

Among those could be goalkeeper Hugo Lloris \u2013 who captained France to World Cup glory<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 England stars Dele Alli and Kieran Trippier, plus Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.<\/p>\n

The number of players Tottenham had in the latter stages at the World Cup \u2013 with nine first-team stars in the semi-finals \u2013 has given Mauricio Pochettino a real headache ahead of the campaign, with Liverpool counterpart Jurgen Klopp recently admitting he has \u2018no clue\u2019 how the Spurs boss will cope<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

But Redknapp believes Kane \u2013 winner of the World Cup Golden Boot \u2013 will give his manager a boost.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old has already said he is keen to start the season well and end his hoodoo of never scoring in August.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

And his former Tottenham boss told Friday\u2019s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: \u201cHarry is one of those lads who won\u2019t want any time off.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019ll go away for two weeks and he\u2019ll miss football, he\u2019ll come back and just want to play.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome players will go away and say they need another few weeks\u2019 rest and recovery.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut Harry is one of those one-off lads who I don\u2019t think you\u2019ll be able to keep him away from playing.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cWhen the first game comes around he\u2019s going to want to be in that team.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s going to want to be leading goalscorer against this year. He didn\u2019t quite make it last year, Salah \u00a0beat him to it, but he\u2019s going to want to get that crown back and I don\u2019t think he\u2019s going to want to miss any matches \u2013 that\u2019s always the feeling I get from the boy.\u201d<\/p>\n
