The transfer saga takes another twist as the Reds attempt to quash rumours
Liverpool have denied making a world-record bid for Roma and Brazil star Alisson.
A series of clangers between the sticks have seen Reds fans and coaching staff lose faith in both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet, and it seemed they would go all out to land a replacement.
The Merseysiders have long been linked with the Roma goalkeeper, who donned the gloves for Brazil at World Cup 2018, and now the wheels are in motion on a transfer.
And despite various sources, including the Liverpool Echo believing a bid had been made, Liverpool have refuted claims, according to sources of Sky Sports, of a £62million offer for Alisson, which will be £53million and then £9million in add-ons, but the Italian club are holding out for an extra £4.4million on the transfer fee. This bid has since been backed up by various sources.
Should a deal go through, Alisson will become the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of the game.
If they do make a move, Liverpool may still face competition from Chelsea, especially as Real Madrid close in on signing Thibaut Courtois, but they were handed a boost in their pursuit as Alisson’s representative liked the Instagram picture above, which reported he was set to present the offer to Roma.
