The Serie A champions are expected to let Higuain leave following Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival in Turin
Tottenham are considering making a bid for Juventus star Gonzalo Higuain, according to reports.
Higuain, the forward, is expected to be sold by Juve this summer following Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival in Turin.
He has long been a target for new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, who worked with Higuian at Napoli – and helped the striker enjoy the best goal scoring season of his career.
The Blues are said to have opened negotiations for Higuian, with the hopes a deal can be wrapped up for the 30-year-old in the coming weeks.
However, Corriere Della Sera report that Juve have not yet received a bid for Higuain, and that Tottenham are also showing interest in the Argentina international.
Mauricio Pochettino wants to bring a new striker to north London to provide backup for Harry Kane, after recent signings Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente did little to impress for the Lilywhites.
Higuain has a superb goal record, having netted 55 times in just 105 matches for Juventus, though there is no guarantee he would settle for being nothing more than a rotation player – especially given Chelsea want Higuain as their new first-choice centre-forward.
Juve value Higuain at around £53million (€60m), and any club that buys the 30-year-old will have to match his wages of roughly £6.6m (€7.5m)
